Since the earth is 70% water, it is important to consider
the ocean and it's inhabitants. That's why 2008 has been designated
as the International Year of the
Reef. As part of the year long agenda, the Coral Reef Symposium will
be held from July 7 to 11 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. More than 3000 people
are expected to attend.

It
was hot. It was humid. It was the last day,
so there he was switching between a paint
brush and an air brush, accenting the work
of Guy Harvey and Romero Britto, signing
autographs and answering questions from
adults and children. He was focused, but
responsive. A trait that was consistent.
The 99th
Whaling Wall will be dedicated on Saturday,
June 14th. Then, Wyland and several of his
staff travel to Norway for a U.N. mural,
before flying to China to paint the 100th
Whaling Wall as part of the Summer Olympics.

Volunteers are essential for a project of this type to
work. Chris Keebler lives in Connecticut, but travels to
work on the wall in whatever capacity is needed. You'll
hear from Chris, Wyland and Youth Ambassador Guy Snell
during this six minute update on the wall. The live
webcam is now operating via
www.WylandFoundation.org. This
link is to the camera.

The wall is beginning to make a transition from concrete block to
environmental art. As a canvas, Wyland says the physical
characteristics of the block and a unique 'depth' to the work. He
walks from one end to the other adding various elements, and a
splash of color, along the way. Romero Brito will add his unique
style on Wednesday, 11 June from 10 AM to Noon and Guy Harvey will
add fish and marine life on Thursday, mid-day.

It's 1000 feet long and 10 feet high. From 6 June to 14 June, marine
artist Wyland will be painting his 99th large-scale mural. This one
is different because it is horizontal. Most are vertical, since it
is a 'below the surface' view that he projects onto the wall.
This is an official part of the
International Year of the Reef, and the Coral Reef Symposium - July
7 to 11 - at the Broward County Convention Center. We'll be adding
information as time progresses. This video, shot on June 6th, will
be followed by a couple more.
On Saturday, June 14th, we're planning
to do a special edition of Liquid Lounge on BlogTalkRadio.com as
part of the event.
